About Me

Hi! I’m Vanessa, I’m from the greater Seattle area and currently live in Vancouver with my partner and crazy pup Augustus. My background in the fitness industry spans 20 years of growth and study in the disciplines of aerobics, pilates, Functional fitness and olympic weight training. My personal fitness journey has evolved into both coaching and teaching, for individuals and groups. I started CrossFit in 2009 and began coaching it in 2010. I competed for several years in local CrossFit competitions, Strong Man and finally settled into Olympic Weightlifting, USAW Masters National level.

Training has become a part of me, and I love it. I’ve never stopped learning, researching, and pushing myself to grow both as a trainer and an athlete. My training philosophy is that movement can be JOYFUL, through a trauma-informed lens - it can be healing. Movement doesn’t have to look or feel any particular way to make “sense”. Strength, stability, flexibility, balance, power, mobility, endurance - supports our brains, mental health, and cardiovascular system.

Movement helps us show up in our lives in the way we want to; hiking with friends, learning new sports, playing with children. I’ve enjoyed the privilege of helping amazing people, strengthen their bodies for the marathon of pregnancy, the trauma and healing after surgery, and for feeling stronger in their daily lives. My own fitness, coupled with helping others brings joy to my own life.
